Fireworks

Cohen's first fireworks! He was asleep before they even started.

But as soon as the first one went off...he was AWAKE!

I don't know if he liked them or not, but he couldn't stop staring.

Awww...daddy and me watching my first fireworks show.

Basket

He pushed the basket all the way over here and then proceeded to get in

Either he wanted a front row seat to the Backyardigans (the TV is RIGHT above him) or he really likes his toys.

Toilet Paper Time

My little one has discovered toilet paper. Go ahead...congratulate me.

Monkey Talk

Cohen is growing such a funny personality. I feel he has a very unique personality for a 9 month old and quite an imagination. Not only can he keep himself busy for literally hours (sometimes all day long with the occasional feeding), but he seems to have intelligent conversations with his stuffed animals. The other morning he woke up sick. Well he puked all over the place so we just figured he was sick (it ended up being nothing, prob his teeth). So he was quite fussy all morning and needed mommy. So after his midmorning nap I was sure I was going to hear another ear full, but he woke up quiet. So I set him down with his toys and went into the other room to clean. I heard some mummbling coming from the other room and thought for sure he was passed out and trying to yell for help. When I turned the corner I saw this

What is that you ask? That's what I was wondering. And how did that stuffed ape get there? He was having a little talk with his stuffed animal when I so rudely interrupted. I had to get the cameral and snap a few more pics. I have to tell you, these were not as good as what I saw with my eyes. He was literally looking into this little animals eyes with his hands high in the air speaking jibbrish.

Pick a page

I always have trouble picking a blog background I like. Then I have trouble sticking with it. I know that there are sites out there that make it easy, and I am a little knowledgeable about HTML so I need your help. If you know any good sites out there please post them in my comments!

Is Blue REALLY Better?

Okay. So we recently got this new couch. We LOVE it. So I thought, why not paint too and change the look of the room? So I figured blue looks really good with brown (we have alot of brown in that room including curtains and other wood furniture). So I went down to Dunn Edwards and bought 3 little buckets of blue paint. One was bright blue (we're talking "blues clues"), one was blue green (very "spa" like), and one was a stormy blue (grey-blue). Well we chose the stormy blue because we liked the grey in it. Once I got it on I wasn't so sure. I mean, it was ALOT of blue. So I decided to ask people on my blog what they think.

This is a before picture: brown couch, sage green walls, and me playing xbox
This is after the blue paint

another after shot
So be honest... I can take it.

First Haircut

Noah has been complaining about Cohen's hair and how it is so long in front and goes over his ears. So I told him to pick a haircut and we will have my sister Cami do it. Of course he decided on a mohawk.

Starting to cut
Doing pretty good
...loosing it....
Washy washy
How do I look?

His hair looks good just normal too but this cut gives us the ability to spike it like this. It's pretty cool.

Vacation to San Diego

This last weekend we decided to rent a mini van and go to San Diego. We stayed with Auntie Ann and had a blast meeting cousin Tatum. We met up with Grandma Carol, Aunt Courtney, Uncle Adam and Addison for Sea World. It was so fun.

Swimming Lessons!

Cohen had his first swim lesson a couple weeks ago. He goes Tuesdays and Thursdays for 4 weeks. He is a natural. He absolutely loves the water! Check him out:
This is the "monkey crawl". He has to crawl on the side and knock over the turtles.
This is him climbing out.
He made it!
And finally the "dunk" to end the lesson. He spits out the water when he comes up!
After lessons Cohen is sooo tired and hungry. His little eyes are always bloodshot from the chlorine but every time we go to lessons he gets so excited!

Baby Baron VanHilsen

My little sister gave birth today at 4:01pm to baby Baron. We are so happy he is finally here! 7 pounds 14 oz and 21 inches! She always has the tall thin babies. Her first child, Beya, was there for all the excitement. She kept saying "push mom, push". I had her off to the side though so she didn't see any of the "real" birthing stuff. But I lifter her up to see Barons head coming through and she said "mommy owie". So I explained that mommy didn't hurt because the nurse gave her medicine. And afterwards she said "baby"! So she knows her little brother is here:) We are all excited. Congratulations to mommy, daddy, Beya, and baby!
